Maria Moisá studied law and history in Argentina before coming to England in 1966, where she lectured on medieval social history at the former Leeds Polytechnic until her retirement. A much travelled polyglot, accomplished artist and sculptor, and a great animal lover, Maria died in 2012.
Her private research was concerned with the rural poor, and she took her doctorate in history at Birmingham University (1996). Her work has been published in Past and Present, Medieval Life, Food and Foodways, Medieval Yorkshire, and Petit Propos Cuilinaires as well as in Culture, Ideology and Politics: Essays for Eric Hobsbawm R. Samuel and G. Steadman Jones, editors (London: 1983).
